Description |

This CME/CE accredited webcourse will address the ongoing debate about
cholesterol goals and how aggressive physicians should be in lowering
cholesterol in their patients at risk for cardiovascular disease. The webcourse,
which features leading researchers in the field of cardiovascular disease,
will also evaluate current management strategies for cholesterol lowering
including the use of combination therapy, especially in refractory patients.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this educational program, participants will be able to:
Discuss current ATP III guidelines for cholesterol reduction and the management of arteriosclerosis;
Debate the benefits and risks of lowering lipids below guideline recommendations;
Review data on cholesterol reduction trials including PROVE-IT, ALLIANCE, REVERSAL, and EASE;
Evaluate the best management strategies for high-risk patients who fail to reach goal;
Examine the efficacy and appropriate use of combination therapy.
